For Prof. J. Suryanaraya, creating a new generation, which can co-relate the contemporary world with the values of Sanatana studies is his life goal.
His father, Shri J B Sastry, instilled in him a love for study of both Sanatana and Adhunatana (modern) disciplines. As a result, he has a rare combination of mainstream as well as Vedic qualifications. His traditional education covers Krishna Yajurveda Samhita, Vyakaranam and Advaita Vedanta. He has successfully completed the Maha Pariksha in Tarka Shastra (Nyaya). He has won the following awards for his work in Vedic Sciences: Shastra Kalanidhi by Governor, Madhya Pradesh; Tarka Ratnam and Vidwan Mani by HH Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swami, Head, Kanchi Mutt; and Veda Vidya Varishta by VSR Foundation, Hyderabad. He knows the following languages: Samskrit, Telugu, Hindi, English, Tamil and Japanese.
His mainstream qualifications include BA (Samskrit), MA (Samskrit), MA (Nyaya Siromani), and MPhil, PG Diploma in Manuscriptology, and is currently pursuing a PhD. His research work includes critical editing and commentary on ‘sAkshAtkAratva-lakShaNa vichAraH’ as a thesis in University of Madras; commentary on ‘kAraka vichAraH’, Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati; and critical editing of ‘Navyamata vichAraH’ and ‘pratibadhya pratibandhaka vichAra’. He has taught at Sri Venkateswara Veda Paathashala, Hyderabad; worked as an online tutor and conducted a summer camp for NRI students. He has developed content for Hindupedia and developed video classes for Vyoma Pathasala and Indic Academy. His works have been published in sAstrArthadIpikA and mANikyaprabhA.
